We took our name from the verse John 4:10 when Jesus had his encounter with the woman at the well. “If you only knew the gift God has for you, and who you are speaking to, you would ask me and I would give you living water. ” NLT
Jesus is the model for our ministry. He went out of his way to meet with the Samaritan women at the well. Jesus did something radical by talking to a Samaritan woman. Jews detested Samaritans. But Jesus was willing to cross that cultural barrier. He also broke religious rules by talking to a woman who had been outcast and marginalized by her village because of her sexually immoral lifestyle. He also showed how much he valued women because Rabbi’s were not allowed to talk to a woman alone.
Jesus showed how much he valued this woman when he went against society and religion to share with her about who he was. She placed her faith in Jesus and ran to tell her whole village. Jesus saw this woman as worthy of his time, his love and his truth.
We want to follow his example and serve women who are forgotten and marginalized by our society. Every woman matters to us and she deserves our time, our love and the truth of who she is. She deserves respect, dignity, and a community of support and care which will empower her to become who she was designed to be.
