Recently, we had the opportunity to partner with Out of a Jam, a multifaceted nonprofit with a vision to nurture and educate youth and women, save overstocked foods to feed the less fortunate, and guide students toward a successful path in life.
Through this partnership, several of our women, along with four boys, attended one of Out of a Jam’s Shop, Cook, and Eat classes. This two-hour session, led by Tonya Birkey, provided a wealth of knowledge on meal prepping and how to be intentional with time and resources in the kitchen. Tonya shared valuable insights on preparing meals in advance and freezing them for later use—a practical lesson for women striving to create a stable and healthy routine.
We are incredibly grateful to Jordan Hofman, who volunteered to watch the boys during the class, allowing the women to fully engage and focus on learning. Your kindness and support made this experience even more special, Jordan—thank you!
The class was informative and interactive. Tonya demonstrated how to make three delicious meals: Tortilla Soup, Stovetop Chicken Pot Pie, and Chicken Fajita Sheet Pan Meal. Participants not only got to try these dishes but also took home enough to share with their families. In addition to the meal prep demonstrations, everyone received a binder filled with 50 recipes and valuable resource information, along with a free gift.

This educational experience provided more than just cooking tips; it equipped the women with skills that will help them manage their resources, make healthier food choices, and be better stewards of their time and money. It’s moments like these that build confidence and set a foundation for long-term empowerment and healing.
We are thankful for our ongoing partnerships with organizations like Out of a Jam that share in our vision of transformation, and we look forward to more opportunities to bring hope, healing, and practical tools to the women we serve.
