Trauma Therapy Impact

We want to share a touching story that shows the impact that is being made and what The Well has meant for women in our community.

One Monday morning, shortly after I arrived at The Well, a woman came to our door seeking help. She began to share the distressing circumstances of her life. She wept uncontrollably, so I moved closer to hold her hand. She then told me, “I have heard about you, and I knew I could come here on Monday and get help. I kept telling myself over the weekend, I can go to The Well on Monday, I can go to The Well on Monday.”

She initially sought assistance for someone close to her but feared that they might not be open to receiving help from us. I reassured her she couldn’t force them to seek help. But as we discussed the situation further, I asked if she had received trauma therapy herself. “Yes, I have in the past, but I am not currently seeing a therapist. I don’t have the money.” I responded by saying, “We will provide you with free trauma therapy with one of our therapists. Would you be interested in that?” Her response was a heartfelt, “Yes, that would be amazing!” And then I prayed over her.

Just two days later, she had her first session and afterwards made a point to tell me, “You have no idea what a beacon of hope this place is for women like me. You guys are amazing!”

Stories like hers inspire and motivate us every day.
